Browsing and Searching
|
|
|
|
The free2auction browse engine is very powerful and can be configured
to filter results to your specific preferences. To assist in helping you most
effectively find the items you are looking for you can use searches, filters, or
a combination of the both. Filters and searches are the same except that filters
remain set for future browsing, whereas searches are only set while you browse within the
results of a search.
Filters
The basic filters consist of your region, only show listings sold from this country (if the region filter is used),
do not show thumbnails, browse rows, order results, show auctions/store items/both, and convert
to currency. These filters can be altered while browsing, from the search page, or they can be set for your account in your options page. When you change one of these filters free2auction attempts to remember the setting during your current session, each time you login to free2auction the filters will be configured according to the settings in your options page.
Searches
Searches give you an advanced method of finding items and consist of many configurable fields. When free2auction results have been filtered or are the result of a search
a note will be made next to the total number of results at the top of the browse page.
When browsing search results your search criteria will be remembered when you browse into
subcategories, rise up the category tree (in the browse title bar), or adjust your basic filter settings.
If you choose the all listings
number next to a subcategory branch then you will leave your search criteria behind and all results
for the selected subcategory will be shown.
Saving favorite searches and categories
You may save a set of search criteria by going to the search page, filling out the desired fields, and then entering a reference name for the search
in the bottom box before performing the search.
To save a particular category, while browsing listings or stores, select the 'save category to favorites' link near
the page title.
After you have saved a set of search criteria or a category, you may view, link to, and manage these entries
from the 'Saved searches' and 'Saved category' tables in your favorites page.
Where are the auctions/store items
If you find your browse results no longer have the auction or store item
tables, it will probably be due to the filter that chooses what results to show (only auctions,
only store items, or auctions and stores).
When you browse all categories the result counts
are split into number of auctions and number of store items. If you click on either the auction count
or store item count then your filter will be altered accordingly, if you want to browse both auctions and
store items from the browse all category results then select the category name rather than the counts.
