Item description

An items description is made up of many fields that help you as a prospective buyer choose whether the item is exactly what you are looking for. Before placing a bid or purchasing a store item be sure you have read all the information given by the seller, as a purchase is considered a binding agreement between you and the seller. You can use the free2auction search engine to refine your search on many of the listing fields.

Fields in an item description
Item title: Is the short description you see when browsing and searching free2auction, it is also listed at the top of the item listing page and gives you a brief summary of the item.
Category: Groups similar items into appropriate areas.
Auction or Store item id: A unique numeric identifier for every item.
Seller: When considering buying an item it is important to study the user who is selling the item, investigate their previous auctions, what information they present about themselves, and the feedback other users have left.
Currency: Listings may be listed in any currency. The default is USD and if a listing does not show a currency it will be in USD, otherwise the currency will be printed next to the prices. All values associated with the listing are in the printed currency and unless specified the payment will be expected in this currency.

Watch this item: Add this item to your watching list. The favorites activity page includes tables of watched store items and auctions. An auction will stay in your watching list until three days after it ends and a store item will stay until it is closed. You can adjust the e-mail notifications you receive regarding watched items from your options page.
Sellers Guarantee: If the seller is offering additional buyer protection with a Sellers Guarantee, an extra box will be displayed below the items details and above the items description.

Description: This is the larger body of information that the seller has entered. It includes all relevant information describing the item and it is important to read this information in its entirety to be sure of what you are buying and what is expected from the seller.
Payment methods accepted: What payment methods the buyer will accept, they may also list any additional payment instructions in the items description.
Escrow: Escrow is a 3rd party service offered by a detached company to reduce the risks involved in transactions such as online purchases. The escrow company will hold money from the buyer until they confirm the goods are received, then they will pass the funds on to the seller or assist in any disputes that arise. The seller will note whether they do not accept Escrow services, if they accept escrow but expect the buyer to pay the fees, or whether they will accept escrow and pay the fees. free2auction is not affiliated with any Escrow service.
Additional payment details: This field gives any specific details the seller wants noted regarding payment for the auction.
Seller ships to: Here the seller states where they will ship the item to. Any special delivery details will be written into the item description.
Shipping fees: The seller will have selected whether the shipping charges are included in the listing price (seller pays for shipping), or whether the winning bidder must pay the shipping and handling. The seller may have chosen to list the shipping charges here, or inform the winning bidder later of the shipping charges.
Shipping: This is the total charge you will have to pay for all shipping and handling per item. The shipping charge may be stepped, with a different charge according to the quantity that is purchased, this stepped price applies per purchase (you cannot combine purchases with other items, or for the same item purchased at different times).
Insurance per item: The price for shipping insurance per item. The seller may have insurance listed as not available, required, optional, or included in shipping price.

Auction only details
Reserve not yet met: If the seller has entered a reserve price and it has not yet been met, there will be a warning at the top of the item listing page. If the auction ends without any bids above the reserve price it will be an unsuccessful auction with no winner.
Currently: This is the current highest bid on the auction, if you wish to place a bid you must enter a value higher than this price. If the seller expects the buyer to pay additional shipping charges there will be a note next to the current bid stating this. For multiple quantity auctions this is the lowest successful bid and the price all successful bidders are to pay.
Quantity: Most auctions sell a single item, however if the seller has specified a quantity larger than one the auction becomes a multiple quantity auction, which means more than one of the item is for sale, and more than one user can be a winning bidder. All items are expected to be identical. Multiple quantity auctions have specific criteria and are handled in a different way to standard single quantity auctions.
