If the seller lists an auction with a quantity larger than 1
it is considered a multiple quantity auction and is handled
differently than a regular single quantity auction.
You can detect a multiple
quantity auction by noting the quantity field of the auction
listing or by seeing there is a desired quantity input field
required when making a bid.
How is the price and winners quantities calculated
Because there is more than one of the item for sale in a
multiple quantity auction, many users can be successful
winners. All successful bidders pay the same price
which is the current price at auction close.
Every time a
bid is placed on the auction free2auction calculates
the current price by finding the lowest successful bid. The
highest bid is given priority and will receive the quantity
they request, any remainder will be passed on to the next
highest bid and so on until all the quantity is distributed.
The last user who recieves some quantity has the lowest successful
bid, their bid is listed as the current price, and will be the price
that all users will pay if the auction closes, and is also the
amount you must beat if you wish to be a successful bidder.
example
How do I know if how much quantity I am winning
In your open bids table, for multiple quantity auctions, your current bid is shown with the current quantity you are winning. If you are winning a partial quantity in will have a green tick and a red cross next to your bid, if you are winning your full quantity the auction will have only the green tick, and if you are not winning any quantity only the red cross.
What do I do if I win the quantity I asked for
In the event that an auction ends
with only a partial quantity allocated to a winner, they are not obliged to follow through with this purchase, and the
seller may not leave negative feedback if they choose
not to.
Sellers notes
Reserve price and buy now price are not available
for multiple quantity auctions.
The additional auction feature fees related
to a multiple quantity auction are the same as for a single quantity
auction, however the end price fees are
charged on each sold item as if it was an individual auction.

Pricing and quantity example
An auction is
listed with a quantity of 10 items and a starting bid price
of $12. User1 bids $15 and requests 8 quantity, the current
price remains $12 and if the auction ends with no more bids
user1 will pay $12 each for 8 units. However if user2 bids
$18 for 4 quantity, the current price will raise to $15 (the
lowest successful bid), if the auction ends user2 will pay
$15 each for 4 units, and user1 is considered the winner for
6 units at $15, but is not obliged to purchase the partial
quantity.
